Lucas Acrylic Resin Primer #1015 is a versatile polymer emulsion primer designed to saturate and help adhere polyester fabrics in reinforced, fluid-applied elastomeric roof membranes. It also serves as a bleedblocking primer for Lucas Silicone Roof Coatings, making it a practical choice for roofing pros and DIYers tackling weatherproof, long-lasting roofs.

Key Features & Design

• General purpose primer: Lucas #1015 Acrylic Resin Primer is a polymer emulsion resin intended as a general purpose primer and to saturate and adhere polyester fabrics in the construction of reinforced, fluid-applied elastomeric roof membranes.
• Bleedblocking compatibility: #1015 is recommended as a bleedblocking primer for Lucas Silicone Roof Coatings.
• Substrate compatibility: #1015 may be used on EPDM, PVC, Hypalon, concrete, modified bitumen and asphalt BUR roofs.
• Base coating for walls: #1015 may also be used as a base coating for conctete and masonry walls when top coated with Lucas #8100 100% Silicone Wall Coating.
• Visual cure cue: Its light yellow color changes to a darker amber hue as the coating dries. This allows for visual confirmation of the coating’s level of cure and readiness for application of the top coatings.
• Application & mixing: Application: Mechanically mix before using.
• Storage & temperature: Do not store above 90ºF. Apply only at temperatures above 40ºF and rising with less than 90% humidity and no threat of rain for 48 hours.
• Surface prep: Surfaces must be power washed clean with Lucas #115. The surface may be damp but must be free of standing water. Surface temperatures should be under 100ºF to avoid premature curing. If roof surface is hot, apply a light water spray to reduce its temperature.
• Reinforcement & application rate: When used with polyester reinforcement, apply with a soft bristle brush, roller or suitable spray equipment at the rate of three gallons per 100 sq. ft. More will be required on alligatored or irregular surfaces. Irregular surfaces may require a prime coat to fill in and level the roof surface.
• Not for granule surfaces: Not recommended for use with polyester fabric on granule surfaced roofs.
• Top coats & cure: Two additional coats of Lucas Elastomeric Roof Coating at 1.25 to 1.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. each is required to achieve a thickness of 20 to 30 mils. The first top coat should be #1000BC which is light gray in color. This speeds dry time and provides the applicator with visual confirmation of proper coverage when applying the bright white top coating of #1000TC. Drying time to second coat @ 70ºF is 4 to 8 hours.
